Our staff are dedicated, loyal and long-serving and we therefore have a very senior team who are fully experienced in all aspects of the meetings industry but especially in international association research, in-market events, familiarisation trips and other client functions and promotional activities.

Julie WatterstonJulie Watterston – In a past life Julie worked for a national newspaper and the Barbican Conference Centre but in 1990 set up Watterston Associates as one of the first research consultancies in the industry specialising in international association research. Julie is an active member of ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) and is a member of the Executive Committee of the UK and Ireland Chapter.

She has been on the education faculty of ICCA General Assemblies and the ICCA RSMP (Research, Sales & Marketing Programme). She has a close bond with a large number of international association executives both in the UK and worldwide. This gives the company a huge advantage in securing clients to attend hospitality events as well as appointments at industry trade shows and ensures that associations often contact us when they are first considering their next open date if they know that we represent a destination that could bid to host their congress.

Janet RossiterJanet Rossiter – Janet is a Senior Account Manager for Watterston Associates working on a number of our destination accounts to generate leads. From taking an active role in helping to organise European Roadshows, dinners and other client promotions for the destinations we represent, Janet has now built excellent relationships with a number of International Association executives. This ensures that we gain the best information from the associations with regards to generating leads and obtaining bidding guidelines. Janet is also our ‘ideas’ person for when we need to think outside the box for our client events.

Frances WisemanFrances Wiseman – Frankii joined Watterston Associates in January 2017 as Marketing Assistant.  She invests her time in confirming that our International Association database remains up-to-date as well as helping with telemarketing calls and providing on-site assistance at our client events.  She is instrumental in keeping our data current, constantly ensuring that our contact information remains valid and safeguarding the company with regards to continually being GDPR compliant.

Gayle GreenwoodGayle Greenwood – Gayle previously worked as a Personal Assistant/Office Administrator with over 20 years’ experience gained in the Insurance and Financial Services sectors. She originally worked for Mobil Oil in Cape Town supporting a team of 50 people and then worked in the Financial Services Sector and with some of the leading Life Insurance companies. After leaving her home country of South Africa several years ago, Gayle relocated to Dubai, UAE with her family and then relocated permanently to the UK in December 2016. She has embraced taking on new challenges and has brought her extensive administrative and organisational skills to the team at Watterston Associates.  Since she started with Watterston Associates, Gayle has taken on an increased level of responsibility and now manages some of our lead generation accounts.

Linda ElsdonLinda Elsdon – Linda is our venue-finding specialist and works with us on a project basis subject to her other event management commitments for major organisations and venues. She has previously worked for some of the major financial institutions in London and now freelances alongside assisting on local events in her home town.

Comprehensive Association Database

We have been ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association) members for 20 years having also spoken at various General Assemblies and other ICCA events and not only use the ICCA Database but have own unique bespoke database which was designed specifically for our company. It enables us to cross reference research information without compromising data security and breach of confidentiality. This means that we may already have on file pertinent information which will help us to identify the most relevant international associations for each client brief as well as national/local based counterparts who may be the most relevant people to submit a future bid to host their association conference.

Our own unique, comprehensive and up to date database on International Associations includes their contact details, event history, RFP and bidding guidelines and local member details. This database is an incredibly valuable asset and is utilised exclusively and extensively on behalf of our clients allowing us to provide targeted and highly qualified sales leads gives us an excellent springboard to generate invitation lists for client functions.
